Quicksearch has two fundamentally different user interfaces:
Survey Respondents
These are the individuals who are supposed to respond to surveys, and it is important that everyone has the opportunity to participate and express their opinions. Therefore, our focus is to support even very old web browsers and adhere to accessibility guidelines (WCAG) so that those with disabilities can also respond without issues.
Our strategy here is called "degrade gracefully," which means that modern design and technology used are meant to enhance user experience but should not be required to answer the survey.
Logged-in System Users
These are logged-in users who use the service as a tool in their professional roles. It is important that individuals can access and work in the tools in a pedagogical and efficient manner. Here, we base the services on the strategy outlined in Statskontoret's guidelines for municipalities, regions, and authorities. The strategy is based on following established web standards such as HTML5, WCAG, among many others from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This contrasts with following individual browsers or browser versions. Browser vendors should adhere to web standards, and if they do not in any area, the vendor should correct their browser. This is the modern way of working with browser support and stands in sharp contrast to the way the web operated in the 90s and early 2000s. The foundation of the strategy is found in chapter 3 of 24-timmarswebben 2.0 from Statskontoret.
We are, of course, responsive and pragmatic as always and can work around individual known issues in a browser, as long as this does not mean we start to violate established standards.
Internet Explorer
The Internet Explorer browser is no longer maintained by Microsoft; it has reached their "end of life," and Microsoft encourages all users to switch to Microsoft Edge, which is a more modern browser. Quicksearch's systems currently have no known issues with the latest version of Internet Explorer.
We will continue to support survey responses with Internet Explorer in accordance with our strategy above, but we do not actively maintain support for Internet Explorer for the parts of the system used by logged-in users.
