Quicksearch supports Single Sign-On (SSO) via the SAML2 technology. SAML is a commonly used technique for enabling automatic login between systems using the same user credentials.
The advantages of SSO include simplifying the management of usernames and passwords. If a user no longer exists in your organization and you close the user's account, the person will no longer be able to log in to Quicksearch.
Possibilities
Authentication - When a person is logged in to your system, the person is automatically logged in to Quicksearch if the person's account in Quicksearch is linked via SSO.
Roles / Group Membership - Groups or roles in your user system can be automatically linked to groups or roles in Quicksearch. If a user needs access to data for a specific region or office according to your system, this can be linked to a region/office in Quicksearch.
Automatically Created User Accounts - If desired, users existing in your system with appropriate permissions can automatically get a user account in Quicksearch when they try to log in to Quicksearch.
Automatically Created Entities - Entities/Offices/Companies can be automatically created in Quicksearch when a person logs in. For example, if your organization has multiple departments that need to be tracked, and a new department is added, it can be automatically created in Quicksearch when a new person belonging to the department logs in. This is based on certain naming patterns for departments in your system. For example, "office-[ID]".
Limitations
A user can either log in with login credentials or with SSO. It is not possible to combine them as it would defeat much of the purpose. It is inappropriate to combine login in many different ways in your installation, such as SSO for some users and login credentials for other users. This is mainly because it leads to administrative problems and a poor user experience.
Setup
Quicksearch has documentation on setting up SSO via SAML. The setup requires technical staff from your end to exchange certain technical details with your contact at Quicksearch. Contact your account manager for assistance with the setup.
Linking between roles/groups in your system and in Quicksearch. This is a setting that can be configured per group or role in the administration system in Quicksearch. If you have SSO enabled, you can also specify that a group/role in Quicksearch corresponds to a certain group/role in your user source. This setting is available in the group settings in Quicksearch.
