The foundation of reminders is that they are sent to all respondents who have not yet responded to the survey or who have started but not completed it. However, the frequency and timing of reminders are influenced by the type of distribution the publication has.
This means that when creating a publication, there are two options regarding Distribution type:
- Fixed dates
- Ongoing survey
The reason we divide publications into two distribution types is because it affects how reminders will function.
Reminders for surveys with fixed dates
Surveys with fixed dates allow for reminders to be sent out at fixed dates and times to all respondents.
Reminders for ongoing surveys
In ongoing surveys, new respondents are added continuously, which the system detects and can then send reminders after a certain number of days and after additional specified days.
It is therefore not possible to send a reminder with a fixed date and time in an ongoing survey because it would then be sent to all respondents who have ever received the survey, regardless of whether the period for the respondent to complete the survey has expired.
