We want respondents not to receive a question anymore
There are two ways to remove questions from a dialogue, either you delete the question or you choose to disconnect the question.
Delete questions
If you delete the question, it will be completely removed, and all conditions as well as answers linked to the question will disappear. Therefore, we recommend not deleting a question in a dialogue that has been published and has answers linked to it.
Choose to disconnect the question
By disconnecting the question, the survey skips the question, and you can keep the conditions and answers linked to the question. This is an option we recommend using if there are answers linked to the question.
How do I disconnect a question
An easy way to disconnect questions is to control under Conditions so that the next question is the question respondents should answer.
For example, a dialogue has 3 questions, but question 2 is no longer relevant. By going to Conditions on question 1, you can control so that the next question is question 3. Then the survey skips question 2.
Set conditions on questions
Sometimes there are questions that are not relevant to the majority of respondents, but you still want to ask a specific question to a smaller sample. This can be solved by creating a condition that is only displayed for respondents who have either answered a certain way to a question in the dialogue, or by having a specific value on a background variable.
We recommend that you use the condition "Show question/answer option" in that case, as you can control exactly which respondents should receive a question/answer option.
Note that a question that is disconnected through linking will never be displayed, even if there are conditions linked to the question.
