When editing or adding background data on respondents, there are some guidelines that are good to keep in mind, otherwise data management becomes difficult. The system will read exactly what you write. If you want to see the results for respondents with "Management" as the background variable in the results work, it must be written in the same way for all recipients it includes. So, it is not possible to mix terms for something that should represent the same background variable. Synonyms or variations in spelling on background data are treated as unique data. For example, writing "Management" and "The Management" will create two different variables.
Go through all the background data, check the following:
- Are we using the right intervals for time, age, length of employment, etc.?
- Are variables with the same meaning written exactly the same?
- Is there information from previous measurements to consider? Use the same names and intervals for background information as much as possible to see trends from previous measurements.
- Is the background information written in the same way? Meaning capital letters in all first and last names and consistently in uppercase or lowercase.
- Is the name of the immediate supervisor written with First Name (first) and Last Name (last)?
